I'm a researcher interested in investigating the relationship between subjectivity and the material sites that condition its emergence. Building on the philosophy of Alain Badiou, I argue that we have lost touch with the notion of a “material truth” that requires subjectivity in order to be brought into the realm of meaning and knowledge. In its place, we increasingly trust technological systems to generate meaning exclusively from existing knowledge, even though, for now, they lack the ability to realize material truths. My work seeks to redraw the boundaries between materialism, technology, and subjectivity so that we can once again realize futures dialectically from material histories.
